Pair of Kiffa Beads
This very unusual pair of beads were made in Kiffa, Mauritania. They are very old and were made mainly by women artists. Historically, Kiffa beads are very important as its ancient technique (dating to 1000 years ago) made it one of the oldest glass bead-making processes in Africa, which was purely African in origin. This bead is around 200 years old, possibly older. Geometric stripes pattern, 12mm diameter with a small 1mm hole. This is one of the best pairs of Kiffa Beads I have ever seen!! In the third picture, see the hole size is bigger on one end of one bead. Sold by the pair. GTBAFR3475 For more information check out issue #36 of Ornament Magazine.
