Antique Witby Jet Beads, Victorian
This 52 inch strand of beautiful real jet (fossilized wood found in streaks of shale on the Yorkshire coast of England) were hand-cut in the mid-late 1800's, and were Queen Victoria's favorite as she mourned Prince Albert's death, creating the morning jewelry era. 7.5mm diameter faceted by hand. An excellent find, and would be a beautiful addition to any jewelry collection! Lighter weight than glass, classic and elegant. Could be looped into a double strand.
