Antique Black and Clear Bonda Beads from India
30" strand of irregular mostly black glass beads with some clear, dark green, and navy blue in the mix; from the Bonda (or Bondo) tribe of the state of Odisha (formerly Orissa), an eastern Indian state on the Bay of Bengal. These beads are 100-300 years old. Average bead size varies from 3-5mm long x 5-7mm diameter to 4mm long x 8mm in diameter, with a large 3-4mm hole. The Bonda tribe is one of the oldest and most primitive in mainland India; their culture has changed little for more than a thousand years.
