Antique Whitby Jet Earrings, Victorian
Beautiful genuine Whitby Jet earrings(fossilized wood found in streaks of shale on the Yorkshire coast of England). Hand-cut in the late 1800's, and were Queen Victoria's favorite as she mourned Prince Albert's death, creating the morning jewelry era. 2.5 inches total length x 20mm across, interesting hand-cut design. An excellent find, and would be a beautiful addition to any jewelry collection! Lighter weight than glass, classic and elegant. Highly polished surfaces with 10 karat gold hooks. Both earrings have been repaired, only visible on the backs.
