Ancient Roman Glass Beads, Mali
18" strand of 2000 year old Roman Era glass beads, traded in Mali. Awesome collection of mixed beads: wide rage of shapes and mixed colors with calcification (see photos for examples). They were excavated around the ancient trading city of Djenné (which is near Timbuktu) in the country of Mali. This graduated strand ranges from tiny 2mm x 3mm to 9mm in diameter with very small holes. Last photo shows strands numbers AFGHAN28A and C.
