Vintage Silver & Coral Prayer Box Necklace, Yemen
Vintage 1930's prayer capsule pendant from Yemen which opens and has an old paper prayer inside! High-silver content. Pendant is 68mm long x 23mm diameter with 3 dangles measuring 47mm long from loop x 18mm wide. Opens at end of capsule, and has a rolled-up paper prayer inside with beautiful Arabic or Hebrew writing, I'm not sure which! Inner diameter is 15mm. This is the only prayer box I've ever seen with the old prayer inside! An awesome work of art! Traditionally made in Yemen by Jewish Silversmiths. Loops are worn, and one bottom dangle as small bells substituting for one missing original dangle. Beautiful coral and small granulated spacers with a silver S-Clasp. Necklace is 16 inches long. A classic!
