Small Thai Buddha and Rooster Pendant
Small ceramic pendant of the Buddha from Thailand, encased in a base metal frame and jump ring for stringing. Featured with the Buddha is a rooster which a symbol of good luck in Thailand. 28mm x 24mm x 8mm thick. Very, very cool. Sold separately, not priced as a pair.
Trivia point: The popularity of the rooster at Thai temples and on pendants is not because of the Chinese zodiac, as some people believe. It's because the future King Naresuan of Thai was heavily into cock fighting when he was a prisoner in Burma in the late 1500s. The Naresuan monument in Ayutthaya has hundreds (possibly thousands) of the creatures.
