Colorful Antique Bonda Beads from India
30" strand of irregular and colorful glass beads from India. These wonderful beads were made by the Bonda (or Bondo) tribe of the state of Odisha (formerly Orissa), an eastern Indian state on the Bay of Bengal. The beads on this mixed strand are over 100 years old. Bead size varies from small (1mm x 2mm diameter) to large (6mm x 7mm diameter). The Bonda tribe is one of the oldest and most primitive in mainland India; their culture has changed little for more than a thousand years.
